National Consultation on Food Security and Climate Change Model Village (CCMV) approach in Nepal

An workshop involving 13 municipality, ICIMOD, R&D and CEAPRED was held on premises of ICIMOD headquarter Kailash hall, Lalitpur, Khumaltar.

Day 1_ 30 May

Day one workshop started at 9 am at Kailash hall of ICIMOD headquarter with Opening remarks of Abid Hussain, Action Area Coordinator, ICIMOD.  First session started at 11:15 A.M after the tea break in which all the participate present there viewed the products of Krishidoot presented by Agro Organic Co-operative Ltd, (Market place of R&D) . Topic discussed in 1st session were: Key components of climate resilient model village, Key challenges and opportunities for resilient agriculture and food security, Integrated approach and local plans by Sunil Dhungana, CEAPRED. After lunch Ghulam Ali shared key highlight of activity implemented by ICIMOD.  2nd session was Group work coordinated by Sunil Dhungel, CEAPRED. This group work included following topic: Key climate resilient solutions adapted by municipalities under CCMV programme, Key challenges faced in adoption processes, Future strategies/opportunities for strengthening climate change integration in local plans . After the group work all the groups came forward to present their respective work to all that were  present. With that at 4 P.M. Ghulam Ali closed the workshop with his closing remarks.   

Day 2_31 May

Day two workshop started at 9:30 A.M with the recap of day 1 and presentation from Krishna Dhakal, ICIMOD on Role of sustainable value chains for climate resilience in agriculture . And Sunita Nhemaphuki, CEO of R&D  shared learning from value chains work under LECRA project for climate resilience in agriculture. Sunita ji further her presentation with Intoducing KRISHIDOOT to the 13 palika presented. Among them we have already worked regarding krishidoot and they were reluctent to share their experience regarding the experiance. 10 plalika are more then excited to establish krishidoot in their own palika. After the tea break at 10:30 A.M Group work on Ways to integrate value chains in climate resilient plans, Identifying factors of climate resilient model and integration. After completing group work and presentation, Chairperson of Chattrakot Rural Municipality distributed locally produced jaggery of Gulmi to all the participants there. After lunch the team departure it moved forward to LML (Living Mountain Lab) of ICIMOD in Godawari at 2 P.M. After having tea at LML all the participant moved towards closing the 2 day workshop. After participant presented there view it ended with Ghulam Ali ending remarks.
